Vaping etiquette in the workplace

vaping etiquette

In a world where vaping has become extremely mainstream, social vaping breaks are still not as widely common as a group of co-workers taking a quick smoke break. The great news is that e-cig’s smokeless and odorless vapor have little impact on the people around you and accepted research backs it up. However, when it comes to vaping etiquette in the workplace, like almost anything else, it’s important to make sure you consider your co-worker’s feelings in order to avoid offending the people you spend 40+ hours a week with.

Why is important to have vaping etiquette?

Put simply, having vaping etiquette is polite. Although you have found that e-cigarettes have helped you put an end to your combustible smoking habit, not everyone around you will understand your transformational experience and the fact that they truly are not impacted by your vaping  — especially non-smokers. Naturally, try and have a little self-control around your co-workers and keep vaping a personal past-time. While studies show you can vape anywhere without impacting people around you, many people are still wary of vaping and appreciate this small consideration.

Where should you vape?

Although your lush, fruity clouds of vapor are far less of a nuisance than the smoke that is given off by a combustible cigarette — no lingering smell or odor — finding a space where you can vape freely will keep everyone around you happy. If office rules or co-worker requests prohibit you from vaping your Logic Pro E-Cig in your office, try one of these places instead:

  • Vape outside: When you used to smoke combustible cigarettes you were pretty considerate of the people around you, right? Why should vaping be any different? Try not to offend your co-workers by finding a spot outside where you can comfortably unwind and blow vape clouds as big as you want.
  • Vape at home: This suggestion is only really an applicable choice for a hobbyist vaper who enjoys zero nicotine e-cigs, mainly because some vapers require more frequent puffing throughout the day, either for the nicotine or for the calming impact of their former smoking routine. If you simply enjoy the feeling of vaping, but don’t rely on the use of an e-cig as a means to provide or cut down on your nicotine intake, it might be kinder to vape at home where you have the privacy and ability to do as you please.
  • Vape in your own vehicle: If you commute to work every morning, vaping in your car can be an opportune time to indulge in a few puffs. Just remember to roll down the windows, allowing the rich vapor to escape, so that you have no visual distractions. The best part about vaping in your car is that you don’t have to worry about the smell lingering or sticking to any of your interior materials. It’s a win, win situation.
  • Vape while you’re out and about: Although this seems like a very general suggestion, the best time you can vape is when you’re out and walking around. Follow the same rules as you would if you were still smoking combustible cigarettes and be courteous to the people around you by not vaping indoors or blowing vape clouds into anyone’s face.
